HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09202011 - C.29RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE Employment and Human Service Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, to execute a contract with the Contra Costa County Community College District accepting an amount not to exceed $40,000, to provide recruitment, assessment and case management services for student participating in the Diablo Valley College, Career Advancement Academy, including mutual indemnification against any claim arising out of the performance of this agreement for the period July1, 2011 through May 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: County to recieve up to $40,000, 100% State, to provide services to potential candidates of the Diablo Valley College, Career Advancement Academy. No County match. BACKGROUND: The East Bay Career Advancement Academy (EBCAA) is a consortium-led and industry-driven workforce initiative that will create and strengthen career training pipelines for low income young adults from distressed communities. The target population for EBCAA will be under-educated, under-employed young adults age 18 to 30 years including individuals with no high school diploma, transitional/emancipated foster youth, formerly incarcerated, and chronically unemployed adults. The Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County (WDBCCC) will provide recruitment, assessment, and case management services for individuals who are potential candidates to enroll in Diablo Valley College's Career Advancement Academy project with the goal of placement of individuals into high demand occupations with access to career ladders and wage advancement. WDBCCC will provide project coordination activities to ensure smooth transition for students between the One-Stop system and the community college. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved, the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa will not offer proposed services to Diablo Valley College, Career Advancement Academy program student participants.
