(All Districts) (CFDA #93.670) BACKGROUND: Each year, the Board of Supervisors adopts a Federal legislative platform which establishes priorities and policy positions with regard to potential federal legislation and regulation. ATTESTED: September 20, 2011 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: June McHuen, Deputy cc: Earl Maciel C.33 To:Board of Supervisors From:Joe Valentine, Employment & Human Services Director Date:September 20, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:Extend Grant Term with Department of Health and Human Services for Domestic Violence Demonstration Project BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) included Federal Fiscal Year (FFY)2010 Federal Appropriation request of $750,000 as the second priority for Safe and Bright Futures for Children Exposed to Domestic Violence to implement the federally funded plan to diminish the damaging effects of domestic violence on children and adolescents and to stop the cycle of intentional injury and abuse. In May 2010 the Zero Tolerance for Domestic Violence Initiative (ZTDV) was notified that a federal appropriation had been designated in the amount of $550,000 and subsequently submitted a grant application to the US Department of Health & Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Administration on Children, Youth and Families, Children's Bureau. On September 27, 2010 ZTDV was notified of the award. ZTDV has been notified that the grant period has been extended from September 29, 2011 to September 29, 2012. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: ZTDV will be unable to continue receiving funding through September 2012. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Zero Tolerance for Domestic Violence Initiative supports three of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood", 4) " Families that are Safe, Stable ad Nurturing", 5) Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" through coordinated intervention services designed to reduce domestic and family violence.
