HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09202011 - C.41RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Treasurer-Tax Collector, or his designee, to execute a contract amendment with A&B Computer Services, to increase the payment limit by $66,700.00 to a new payment limit of $140,875.00 and to extend the term from January 31, 2012 to June 30, 2012, as recommended by the Treasurer-Tax Collector. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% County General Fund. BACKGROUND: The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office runs several networks and database systems, including but not limited to the electronic deposit system, the cashiering system, the property tax database, and the business license database. Maintaining and coordinating these multiple systems requires an extensive knowledge of each, in addition to a high level of technical skill. After working with the Department of Information Technology, it was determined that an outside consultant would be the best solution to provide the high level of expertise required for maintaining these multiple systems. A & B Computer Services, has spent over 10 years working with educational institutions and government agencies, offering consulting services including Network Engineering, Software Development and Desktop Management. Samir Ashoo, owner of A&B Computer Services, has successfully provided the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office with the high level of support required by the office. The Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office is in the process of updating their billing system and the additional work needed for this process requires the contract amendment/extension. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the contract amendment is not approved, the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office will no longer have the technical support necessary to coordinate their networks and database systems.
