Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee, to execute, on behalf of
the County, Contract #26-611-3 with Dennis McBride, M.D., a self-employed individual, in
an amount not to exceed $520,000, to provide primary care physician services for patients at
the County’s Adult and Juvenile Detention Facilities, for the period from September 1, 2011
through August 31, 2013.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is 100% funded by Enterprise Fund I. No rate increases.
BACKGROUND:
On September 22, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-611-2 with
Dennis McBride, M.D. to provide primary care physician services for patients at the
County’s Adult and Juvenile Detention Facility including, but not limited to, clinical
coverage, consultation, training, medical and/or surgical procedures and on-call coverage,
through August 31, 2011.

will allow the Contractor to continue to provide services, through August 31, 2013.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa
Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers would go have longer wait times and
could possibly go untreated.
