Subject:2011/12 Cambridge Community Center childcare services contract
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Head Start services to program eligible County residents. In order to provide a wider
distribution of services to County residents, the Department contracts with a number of
community-based organizations. Approval of this contract will allow the provision of Head
Start services to program eligible children and families in the Central Costa County area.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, County will not be able to more widely distribute childcare availability
through partnership with community based agencies.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
