HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09132011 - C.87RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or his designee, to execute Agreement #11-0378-SF with the State of California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) in an amount not to exceed $299,290.00, for inspection activities for the period of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: This agreement provides reimbursement for County expenses incurred during this period for inspection activities performed on behalf of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) in Contra Costa County up to $299,290.00. BACKGROUND: The County will use the Dog Team to detect the presence of any unwanted plant pests in parcels, including insect species, diseases or other harmful organisms, that may pose a threat to the economic well-being of the State. The parcel inspection services will relate to plant products entering the State of California. The teams will also be available to provide inspection service at the United States Postal Service. Under this agreement the Dog Team will work in Contra Costa County as well as in other greater Bay Area counties. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Not approving this action would result in a loss of revenue for the Department reducing the Department's ability to use their Dog Team for inspection activities. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None.
