HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09132011 - C.51RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Librarian, or designee, to apply for and accept a grant
from East Bay Community Foundation, administered by the Rodeo Municipal Advisory
Council, in an amount not to exceed $4,000 for Rodeo Library services for the period
January 1, 2012 through June 30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No library fund match.
BACKGROUND:
The County currently funds 18 hours of library service at the Rodeo Library. The $4,000
received from Rodeo Municipal Advisory Council will fund four additional hours of library
service from January 1, 2012 through June 30, 2012, which allows the Library to open two
evenings, and one additional hour on Saturdays thereby providing Rodeo residents more
opportunities to make use of the educational and recreational resources available in the
library.

Subject:Apply for and Accept East Bay Community Foundation Grant Funds Administered by the Rodeo Municipal
Advisory Council
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Rodeo Library will be open 18 hours each week if grant funds are not approved and
received.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This grant supports the community outcome of Communities that are Safe and Provide a
High Quality of Life for Children and Families. Many Rodeo residents are only able to use
the Rodeo Library due to transportation difficulties and/or age (particularly children and
teens who cannot yet drive). The Rodeo Library remains an important part of the
community’s civic life, offering such activities as book discussion groups, movie discussion
groups, and arts and craft programs for parents with small children.
