ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 20960 to add one (1) Registered Nurse - Exp
Level position (VWXD) (represented) position at salary level L3H 0400 ($7,091.26 -
$7,903.79) in the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of approximately $149,823,
including pension costs of $53,187, and will be funded with member premiums from new
Medi-Cal members.
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Health plan is expecting approximately 1000 new SPD (Seniors and
Persons with Disabilites) Medi-Cal members to enroll each month for the next year. As
such, the current staffing level in the Authorizations Unit is insufficient to provide an
adequate level of service. This new RN position will be assigned to the Authorizations Unit
and will be responsible for monitoring, tracking, and implementing utilization management
processes. Duties will include screening referrals, approving authorization requests,
identifying and coordinating with other payor sources, and facilitating discharge planning
