Subject:Issuance of Request for Proposal #1126, Respite Services for the Heritage Project
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without completion of the Request for Proposal process, contracts would not be issued for
respite services for the Heritage Project serving relative caregivers and foster parents of
drug-exposed and/or medically fragile children.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Contracts resulting from Request for Proposal #1126 will support four of the community
outcomes in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School";
2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 4) "Families that
are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High
Quality of Life for Children and Families". Respite services may be used during times of
crisis when a caregiver needs to be away from home or when parents or relative caregivers
must pursue other activities that temporarily take them away from children whose special
needs require ongoing care.
