HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08162011 - C.61RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Clerk-Recorder, or designee, to donate 4 surplus
ballot card readers and a controller from the DFM Mark-a-Vote ballot counting system and
remove these items from the departmental inventory.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No Net County Cost.
BACKGROUND:
The Elections Division of the County Clerk-Recorder's Office still has components of the
former DFM Mark-a-Vote ballot counting system, which was replaced by the Board of
Supervisors in 2005. These components are no longer useful or necessary to Contra Costa
Elections operations. The vendor has indicated that the equipment is at its end of life. The
equipment is currently in storage awaiting surplus and disposal. The County of Sonoma has
indicated they would like to acquire four of the DFM Mark-a-Vote card readers and one
controller, to supplement equipment they are still using and provide spare parts, if needed.
This voting system is no longer manufactured or sold.
