Glover, District V Supervisor Contact: Wendel Brunner, MD, 313-6712 I hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown. ATTESTED: August 9, 2011 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: June McHuen, Deputy cc: Tasha Scott, Demetria Gary, Connie Ward C.42 To:Board of Supervisors From:William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director Date:August 9, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:USE OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND – RICHMOND RECREATION COMPLEX arising out of use of the facility. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, hundreds of Contra Costa students entering 7th through 12th grade will not receive Tdap vaccine, which is required for school entry for the 2011-2012 school year. This means that these students will not be able to attend school, resulting in a loss of attendance monies for districts; and the students will remain vulnerable to being infected by and then spreading, pertussis (also known as Whooping Cough). CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: By ensuring that these students receive the Tdap vaccine, they will be protected against pertussis. Additionally, there is a community benefit to raising immunity throughout Contra Costa County in order to reduce the disease in our county, thereby protecting infants who are most at risk for hospitalization and death.
