County
Subject:USE OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND – RICHMOND RECREATION COMPLEX
arising out of use of the facility.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, hundreds of Contra Costa students entering 7th through 12th
grade will not receive Tdap vaccine, which is required for school entry for the 2011-2012
school year. This means that these students will not be able to attend school, resulting in a
loss of attendance monies for districts; and the students will remain vulnerable to being
infected by and then spreading, pertussis (also known as Whooping Cough).
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
By ensuring that these students receive the Tdap vaccine, they will be protected against
pertussis. Additionally, there is a community benefit to raising immunity throughout Contra
Costa County in order to reduce the disease in our county, thereby protecting infants who
are most at risk for hospitalization and death.
