Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee, to execute, on behalf of
the County, Contract #26-935-12 with David Kleinerman, M.D., a self-employed
individual, in an amount not to exceed $1,383,000, for the provision of professional urology
services, for the period from August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. Cost to the County depends upon
utilization. As appropriate, patients and/or third party payors will be billed for services.
Rates have changed from an hourly rate to a fee per clinic rate.
BACKGROUND:
For a number of years the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to
provide specialized professional services which are not otherwise available in its hospital
and health centers.
On August 5, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-935-10 (as amended
by Amendment Agreement #26-935-11) with David Kleinerman, M.D., for the period from

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
for the provision of professional urology services, including but not limited to clinic
coverage, consultation, training, surgical procedures and on-call services.
Approval of Contract #26-935-12 will allow the Contractor to continue providing urology
services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Health Centers, through July 31,
2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring these medical services at Contra Costa
Regional Medical and Health Centers would go untreated.
