Subject:Title II Formula Block Grant Program - Community Justice Conference
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
At this time, the Corrections Standards Authority is seeking qualified agencies to use
grant funds to implement projects that reduce juvenile offending.
The Probation Department intends to focus on the Restorative Justice Principles goal to
restore victims’ wounds, restore youthful offenders to law-abiding lives, and repair harm
that is created between the offending youth and his community. All appropriate juvenile
offenders will be given an opportunity to participate in the Community Justice
Conference (CJC) process. This best practice will encourage victims and youthful
offenders to resolve conflict and make repairs without further burdening the Court and
Justice Systems.
