SUBJECT: AUTHORIZING NEGOTIATION AND EXECUTION OF CITY OF RICHMOND CONTRACT
FOR GENERAL ASSISTANCE RECIPIENT JOB DEVELOPMENT AND PLACEMENT SERVICES
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Authorize contract negotiations with City of Richmond Private Industry
Council , for the period beginning December 2, 1986 and ending
June 30, 1987, with a total maximum Payment Limit not to exceed $30,000,
to provide job development/placement and referral and assessment services
for County's Social Service Department Work Programs General Assistance
recipients in west County.
Further, upon completion of said negotiations, authorize the Director,
Contra Costa County Social Service Department, to execute on behalf of
the County, standard form service Contract #20-635 with the City of
Richmond Private Industry Council , with the term, payment limit, and
services as specified above, subject to approval by County Counsel as
to legal form.
11 . FINANCIAL IMPACT:
100 percent County Social Service Department General Assistance Budget.
III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND:
Currently, the Contra Costa County Social Service Department conducts
Job Search Workshop Training for General Assistance (GA) recipients at
the City of Richmond Private Industry Council 's (PIC) facility.
Under the terms of Contract #20-635, PIC will provide job development,
placement, referral , and related employability services for those GA
recipients who complete the Job Search Workshop training. Further, the
PIC will provide certain on-going clerical assistance for the Workshop.
Approval of the herein requested action will enable the City of Richmond
PIC to provide expanded employment services and opportunities for
approximately 240 participants.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
GA recipients will be unable to recieve full benefits of expanded job
training services following completion of the County's Job Search Workshop.
