Adopted this Order on December 16 , 1986 by the following
vote:
AYES: Supervisors Fanden, Schroder, McPeak, Torlakson, Powers
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
SUBJECT: Proposed Option for Employee Service Awards
In reviewing the employment history of Helene Weber
during the Employee Service Award Ceremony, Robert Larson, her
supervisor, advised of Ms. Weber' s expertise in child placement
programs including foster care and day care licensing. He noted
that she has initiated a number of imaginative and innovative
programs including post placement groups with new adoptive parents
and an emergency foster home program. Mr. Larson advised that Ms.
Weber would have preferred making a donation to the Children' s
Trust Fund in lieu of receiving a pin for her 20 years of county
service. Although this was not possible at this time, Mr. Larson
proposed that the Board might want to consider giving employees
the option of donating to the Children' s Trust Fund in lieu of
receiving a service award.
Supervisor Fanden noting that Ms. Weber lives in
Lafayette and works in Rodeo, recommended that the Welfare
Director issue a press release to the Contra Costa Sun and West
County Times on Ms. Weber' s career as an advocate of children' s
programs.
Board members being in agreement, IT IS ORDERED that
the recommendation of Supervisor Fanden is APPROVED.
On recommendation of Supervisor McPeak, IT IS FURTHER
ORDERED that the County Administrator is REQUESTED to review the
proposal that would permit employees the option of donating to the
Children' s Trust Fund in lieu of receiving service awards.
cc: Welfare Director I hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of
County Administrator an action taken and entered on the minutes of the
Board of Superviso
