Yancey District Attorney OFFICE OF DISTRICT ATTORNEY CONTRA COSTA COUNTY To. Phil Batchelor, County Administrato From: Gary T. Yancey, District Attorney Date: October 16, 1986 Suoject: Salary Adjustment for John Christolos, Administrative Services Officer I strongly recommend that John Christolos be granted a salary increase through a job reclassification. John Christolos, my Administrative Services Officer, has been of invaluable assistance and support to me during my first 1 year and 9 months in office. He has unhesitatingly taken on added responsibilities, provided wise and well-thought-out counsel on a myriad of administrative matters, almost single- handedly prepared our FY 85-86 and FY 86-87 budgets and devoted a considerable amount of time after hours in carrying out new assignments, including coordina- ting all clerical matters and the transition from a manual document processing system to an automated document processing system in our 4 prosecution offices. As you know, I don't have a full-time assistant department head to handle the countless day-to-day administrative details that confronts my office. Though John Mc Tigue is the Chief Deputy District Attorney, his principal functions are Attorney-in-Charge of the Superior Court Division, supervising the recruitment and hiring of new attorneys and acting for me in my absence. He does not have time t.o get involved in the day-to-day administration of my department . I rely on John Christolos, who I consider to be my chief deputy for administra- tion, to assist me in dealing with the endless variety of administrative matters that must be handled in the management of this department . I sincerely believe he is most deserving of additional compensation for his hard work and assumption of added responsibilities. All of my top managers have received internal salary adjustments during the past year except John. Therefore, I request that you recommend to the Board of Supervisors approval of the action contained in the attached P300 and to grant John Christolos a 5% salary increase as soon as possible. cc: Harry Cisterman, Director of Personnel George Roemer, Director of Justice Systems Programs ot.', Ilc-:;.-t., ,.-4^'n, 5b..c>s -'t'•u> a o. , .. .... iver«c rs e1L ( j ( r , ec,. r•; ..r.
