HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10221985 - 1.4 (3) TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT DATE: October 22, 1985 SUBJECT: Agreement for Consulting Engineering Services for Certain Buchanan Field Airport Improvements Under Federal Aviation Administration Projects 3-06-0050-02 and 3-06-0005-03 Specific Requests or recommendations & Background and Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and Authorize the Public Works Director to sign an Engineering Services Agreement with Hodges & Shutt, Aviation Planning Consultants, to provide engineering assistance for the preparation of plans and specifications and all construction engineering services for the Airport Improvement Project (AIP) 3-06-0050-02 and Airport Improvement Project (AIP) 3-06-0050-03. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Fees for services for the AIP 3-06-0050-02 Project will be $95,000 of which 90% will be paid out of the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program. The remaining 10% will be funded out of the Airport Enterprise Fund. Fees for services for the AIP 3-06-0050-03 Project will be approximately $110,000 of which 90% will be paid out of the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program. The remaining 10% will be funded out of the Airport Enterprise Fund. The final fee for the project engineering services will be determined at such time as a final agreement is reached between the County and the Federal Aviation Administration as to the ultimate scope of the project. BACKGROUND: A Grant Agreement for the AIP 3-06-0050-02 Project was accepted by the Board of Supervisors on September 10, 1985. This project includes: 1. Porus friction overlay on Runway 1L-19R 2. Porus friction overlay on Runway 14L-32R 3. Crash/Fire/Rescue (CFR) Vehicle 4. East building area fencing 5. Taxiway "E" rehabilitation Preapplication for Project AIP 3-06-0050-03 was authorized by the Board of Supervisors on August 27, 1985. The project includes: 1. Extend Taxiway "F" 2. Connector taxiway on Runway 1R 3. Land acquisition for clear zone Runway 14L 4. Taxiway "E" rehabilitation 5. Rehabilitation of Runway 14R-32L 6. Extension of Taxiway "J" The Public Works Department solicited bids from known consultants as well a advertising locally and in the consulting trade newsletters. Written proposals were evaluated and interviews were held.
