The fee for this Permit will be paid for from those funds. BACKGROUND: The County Regional Needs Assessment for County Libraries presented to the Board of Supervisors in 2007 reported that inequities in library service delivery existed in the county. Through a previous action, the Board directed the County Librarian to identify options for improving service to county residents. The automated Book Dispensing Machines allow customers to borrow and return library books and media using a library card. The Book Dispensing Machines would meet the needs of residents in west county and of countywide commuters. The County agrees to indemnify and hold harmless BART under certain conditions as part of the Permit. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The County will have to find another location for the Book Dispensing Machine, or the residents of west county will have fewer options to receive and return library materials. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
