Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Novation Contract #28–644–10 with Golden Rain Foundation of Walnut
Creek, a non-profit corporation, to pay County an amount not to exceed $16,142, to provide
congregate meal services for County’s Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1,
2011 through June 30, 2012. This Contract includes a three-month automatic extension
through September 30, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $4,036.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Contractor will pay County the net project income received from participants. No County
funds are required.
BACKGROUND:
This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population by providing an average of 190
meals per week for senior citizens at its Congregate Senior Nutrition site at the Golden Rain
Dining Room in Walnut Creek.
On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #28–644–9

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
with Golden Rain Foundation of Walnut Creek, for the period from July 1, 2010 through
June 30, 2011, which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30,
2011, for the provision of congregate meal services for County’s Senior Nutrition Program.
Approval of Novation Contract #28–644–10 replaces the automatic extension under the
prior Contract and allows Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2012.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, County’s senior citizens will not receive meals from this
Agency.
