HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07262011 - C.63RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Department of Agriculture, a purchase order with Seraphin Test Measure, in an amount not to exceed $16,968, for two "J" bottom drain provers for testing fuel transport vehicles. FISCAL IMPACT: The Department of Agriculture is replacing existing equipment with the purchase of two new provers for a total cost of $16,967.85. The purchase is budgeted in the prior year budget and included in the FY2011/12 Agriculture Budget. BACKGROUND: The Department of Agriculture is replacing two 36 year old provers (Equipment Numbers 8545 and 8546) that came into service in 1974. Both pieces of equipment are being replaced due to old age and poor condition. These equipment are considered obsolete as parts are no longer available. Provers are used by the Department of Agriculture in their duty of testing fuel transport vehicles. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, the Department of Agriculture will not be able to perform its duties of testing fuel transport vehicles. If unable to perform its duties, the Department of Agriculture will need to subcontract this work to the State of California. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
