HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07262011 - C.54RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to apply for and accept funding from the federal Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance in an amount not to exceed $800,000 for the Pathways to Responsible Fatherhood grant program for a one-year period to begin upon award of the grant. (100% Federal) (Districts 1 and 5) FISCAL IMPACT: $800,000: County to receive up to $800,000 from Federal Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance, Pathways to Responsible Fatherhood grant, BACKGROUND: The Pathways to Responsible Fatherhood grant will allow Employment and Human Services and nonprofit partners to provide an integrated network of services to fathers and families in West and East County to help them become economically stable. The initiative will integrate the County's SparkPoint Centers with the Supporting Fathers Involvement program, domestic violence services, and healthy marriages services to assist struggling families become more stable and successful in our most challenging communities. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The program will support four of the five community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 2) "children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and, 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" by providing an integrated network of supportive services, encouragement and education to fathers and families.
