APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or his designee, to execute
Agreement #11-0175-SF European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) for the California Department
of Food and Agriculture to pay the County an amount not to exceed $39,718.00 to place and
service traps for the detection of the European Grapevine Moth for the period of July 1,
2011 through December 31, 2011, as recommended by the Agricultural Commissioner.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This agreement provides $39,718 in additional revenue to the Department to support pest
detection activities.
BACKGROUND:
The European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) was first discovered in Napa County vineyards in
the fall of 2009. It has since been found in very low numbers in eleven counties in the State.
Infested areas of the State are under quarantine restrictions and an eradication program.
EGVM is not known to occur in Contra Costa County. The survey and trapping program is
designed for early detection of incipient infestations if it is to get started in the county.
