BACKGROUND: The Economic Opportunity Council was established on January 16, 1965. It is the federally designated Community Action Program oversight council in Contra Costa County. It is made up of 15 members - five from the low-income community, five from private sector community organizations and business people, and five members of the Board of Supervisors who can either serve on the Council or choose to appoint designee's on their behalf. Supervisor Mitchoff issued a press release advertising this vacancy. After reviewing all applicants, she selected Ms. Christine Soto Sevier to fill the District IV Seat. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The District IV Seat of the Economic Opportunity Council would remain vacant. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None.
