HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07122011 - C.70RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #24–312–31 with Asian Community Mental Health Board, a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $150,000 to provide interpretation services for Mental Health Southeast Asian refugees in West Contra Costa County, for the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment. (No Rate Increase) BACKGROUND: According to the National Standards for Culturally Appropriate Services in health care, health care organizations are required to provide language assistance services at no cost to each patient with limited English proficiency, as well as to patients who use sign language to communicate. Approval of Contract #24–312–31 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through, June 30, 2012. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, Southeast Asian refugees in West Contra Costa will not receive translation services regarding their healthcare.
