County
Subject:2010-11 Calif. Dept. of Educ. General Childcare & Development revenue contract, amendment #2
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County receives funding from California Department of Education to provide
state preschool and general childcare development services to program-eligible County
residents. The Board approved receipt of funds for the 2010-11 program year on June 22,
2010. The Board approved an amendment on January 11, 2011.
The state routinely amends the agreement within the program year to adjust days of
operation, as needed, as school calendars are finalized. This change of days of operation is
due to staff development training days.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, County may lose revenue for 2 days of non-operation.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department’s
Child Development program supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes
- Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that
are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and
Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including
high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children
throughout Contra Costa County.
