HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07122011 - C.38RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract #28–340 with Contra Costa Jewish Community Center, Inc., a non-profit corporation, to pay County an amount not to exceed $5,500, to provide congregate meal services for County’s Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. This contract includes a three-month automatic extension, through September 30, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $1,375. FISCAL IMPACT: No County funds are required. BACKGROUND: This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population by providing an average of thirty-five congregate meals per day, two days per week for senior citizens at the Jewish Community Center in Walnut Creek. For a number of years, the Jewish Community Center has provided nutritious meals to senior citizens at its Walnut Creek facility. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Under Contract #28–340, Contra Costa Jewish Community Center, Inc. will receive meals from County’s Senior Nutrition Program’s caterer, and will pay County any donations that it receives from the senior citizens who eat the meals, through June 30, 2012. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, senior citizens who depend on County’s Senior Nutrition Program will not receive meals at Contractor’s facility.
