HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07122011 - C.37RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Librarian, or designee, to apply for and accept a grant in the amount of $2,500 from Dougherty Valley / San Ramon Rotary Club to provide funds for the purchase of public school text books for in-library use at San Ramon and Dougherty Station Libraries for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: No library fund match. BACKGROUND: The Dougherty Valley / San Ramon Rotary Club seeks to bring educational resources and services to the entire San Ramon community. In the past, San Ramon Library and Dougherty Station Library have partnered with the San Ramon public schools to bring literacy and lifelong learning to students. The Rotary grant will provide funds to purchase public school text books for students who visit the library after school and on weekends during the school year. Textbooks also provide resources to students during the summer who prepare for the upcoming school year or for those who study remedially.
