CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
Research shows that early and positive experiences with books set the stage for a child’s
success in learning to read. The availability of books from an early age is critical to that
success and growing up with books creates a life-long love of reading. Therefore, public
libraries play an important role in a community. They equalize access to books, making sure
all families are able to help their child’s enjoy reading from an early age. An attractive
children’s collection at the Rodeo Library, with a larger selection of materials, will draw
more families to the library and encourage regular exposure to reading and books. This gift
will help support the Children Ready for and Succeeding in School outcome.
