Piepho, District III Supervisor Date:July 12, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:APPOINTMENTS TO THE HAP MAGEE RANCH PARK JOINT PLANNING AND OPERATIONS COMMITTEE BACKGROUND: The Town of Danville and Contra Costa County jointly own, maintain and operate Hap Magee Ranch Park. The Joint Planning and Operations Committee is an advisory body that advises the Town and County regarding development, operation and maintenance of the park. The five-member Committee meets at least semi-annually and more frequently, if necessary. The Danville Town Council appoints two members of the Parks and Leisure Services Commission, the County Board of Supervisors appoints two representatives of the Alamo Municipal Advisory Council, and the fifth member is selected by a unanimous vote of the four other Committee members. On December 15, 2009 the Board of Supervisors approved and authorized the Chair, Board of Supervisors to execute an amendment to an existing Joint Powers Agreement with the Town of Danville effective December 15, 2009 to refer to Alamo MAC in place of the Advisory Committee for County Service Area R-7A with no substantive changes to the Joint Powers Agreement, in order for the Alamo MAC to perform the functions of the Advisory Committee for County Service Area R-7A, (Danville, Alamo area). On June 7, 2011 the Alamo MAC voted unanimously to recommend Ed Best and Michael McDonald for the Joint Planning and Operations Committee appointments. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The seats will remain vacant. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None.
