COMMITTEE
BACKGROUND:
The Town of Danville and Contra Costa County jointly own, maintain and operate Hap
Magee Ranch Park. The Joint Planning and Operations Committee is an advisory body that
advises the Town and County regarding development, operation and maintenance of the
park.
The five-member Committee meets at least semi-annually and more frequently, if
necessary. The Danville Town Council appoints two members of the Parks and Leisure
Services Commission, the County Board of Supervisors appoints two representatives of the
Alamo Municipal Advisory Council, and the fifth member is selected by a unanimous vote
of the four other Committee members.
On December 15, 2009 the Board of Supervisors approved and authorized the Chair, Board
of Supervisors to execute an amendment to an existing Joint Powers Agreement with the
Town of Danville effective December 15, 2009 to refer to Alamo MAC in place of the
Advisory Committee for County Service Area R-7A with no substantive changes to the
Joint Powers Agreement, in order for the Alamo MAC to perform the functions of the
Advisory Committee for County Service Area R-7A, (Danville, Alamo area).
On June 7, 2011 the Alamo MAC voted unanimously to recommend Ed Best and Michael
McDonald for the Joint Planning and Operations Committee appointments.
