HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06282011 - C.90RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract, contingent on approval by the County Administrator, with John Meyers in an amount not to exceed $150,000 for helicopter pilot services for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. FISCAL IMPACT: $150,000.00. Budgeted. No General Fund impact. These expenditures are covered by a combination of agency user fees, annual SLESF (Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund) allocation, P-6 Central Administrative Base (Zone) revenue, and indirectly offset by State of California Department of Boating and Waterways grant funding. BACKGROUND: Under this contract, John Meyers will provide pilot services to the Sheriff’s helicopters. Continuation of the helicopter program hinges on the services provided under this contract. We are requesting conditioned Board approval of the contract today, contingent upon the approval by the County Administrator, because we are still negotiating the indemnification provisions and insurance requirements related to the contracted services. The current pilot services contract will expire on June 30, 2011 and the Board of Supervisors will not meet again until July 14, 2011. The conditioned Board approval today will permit the contract to proceed once the County Administrator's requirements are satisfied. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
