HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06282011 - C.83RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or his designee to execute a construction contract with LK Hunt Construction, in an amount not to exceed $25,000, for the construction of a Canine Kennel, as recommended by the Agricultural Commissioner. FISCAL IMPACT: There will be no fiscal impact on the department. This construction will be fully funded by Amendment #10-0100-SF between the Department of Agriculture and the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). BACKGROUND: On May 24, 2011. The Department of Agriculture received Board of Supervisors approval to execute Amendment #10-0100-SF with the State of California Department of Food and Agriculture (CFDA) for an additional $75,950. This additional funding was for the purchase of a vehicle to transport the Department of Agriculture's canine team and to construct a canine kennel to house them. Guise, Director of Agriculture/Weights & Measures Date:June 28, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:Standard Contract - Purchase of Services-Short Form - Canine Kennel Construction BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) of Agriculture's canine team has been housed at a Professional Kennel/Boarding business in Lafayette (Waiterock Kennel) at a cost of approximately $10,000 per year. The canine handler lives in Oakley and the canine kennel will be constructed on the handler's property. Constructing a canine kennel on the handler's property will reduce kennel costs, as well as save transportation and employee costs. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Loss of reimbursement to the department through previously approved CDFA contract (number 10-0100-SF). Negative action will also result in loss of efficiency to the canine handler. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable. ATTACHMENTS Right of Entry Agreement
