BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
of Education of one-time funding available to the County for Child Development program
facility renovations and repairs. The State has awarded $249,000 to be used during the
budget period of July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2013 for facility renovations.
This amendment accepts budget line item swap between the installation of heating/cooling
systems at two childcare centers. The cost for one center is going down by $50,000 while
the cost of the system installation at another center is increased by $50,000. The aggregate
sum of this contract remains unchanged..
Approval of this agreement will allow the Department to complete facility renovations at
various County operated facilities.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, funds will not be encumbered to complete facility repair projects.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
