ADOPT Resolution to commend David Shaw, MFT for 33 years of professional, loyal and
dedicated service to our county’s youth, young adults and their families.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND:
David Shaw’s, MFT, career with Contra Costa County Mental Health Department spans
more than 33 years. On March 30, 2011 David retired from his position as a Mental Health
Clinical Specialist and Team Leader in the West Contra Costa County Child and Adolescent
Program. David has been a major influence within our regional mental health services,
promoting ongoing training and professional consultation for our staff and interns. His
efforts in this area demonstrated how significant it is to keep service providers prepared and
nourished so they can provide the most comprehensive services. He was well versed in all
the clinical controversies and social problems facing our region’s youth and families. He

program in our county system, collaborating successfully with juvenile probation. David
was a true team player in our clinic and out in our community. He was passionate and
dedicated to promoting hope and overcoming insurmountable odds for our youth and
families. He had an extraordinary career with us and leaves a legacy of public service that
will be hard to match.
