1. OPEN a Public Hearing to adjust service fees for the Office of the Sheriff Forensic
Services Division effective July 1, 2011.
2. CLOSE Public Hearing and ADOPT Resolution No. 2011/227 effecting the fee
adjustments and superseding and replacing Resolution No. 2009/301.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The adoption of Resolution No. 2011/227 will update the fees charged to user agencies for
forensic services provided by the Office of the Sheriff.
BACKGROUND:
In June 2009, the Board approved a fee structure to recover actual costs incurred by the
Office of the Sheriff to provide specific services.
The adjusted service fee schedule will include a new fee for

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
discovery. The District Attorney or Public Defender’s Office will not be charged for basic
discovery of drugs, alcohol or toxicology cases, or a standard breath alcohol discovery.
Private attorneys, pro per defendant and non-Contra Costa County government agencies
will be charged a fee of $50 for basic discoveries and $250 for extensive discoveries.

IN THE MATTER OF UPDATING FEES FOR FORENSIC SERVICES PROVIDE BY THE SHERIFF-CORONER
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS in June 2009, the Board approved a fee structure to recover actual costs incurred by the Office of the Sheriff to
provide specific services; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to periodically update service fees in order to reflect current costs to provide certain services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the schedule of forensic service fees set forth in Attachment A are adopted
effective July 1, 2011; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution supersedes and replaces Resolution No. 2009/301.
