A. OPEN the public hearing to approve fees for the Office of the Sheriff - Coroner's
Division effective July 1, 2011.
B. CLOSE Public Hearing and ADOPT Resolution No. 2011/228 approving the Coroner's
Fees.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No Net County Cost - 100% service fees.
BACKGROUND:
Under Government Code section 27472, the Office of the Sheriff currently charges fees for
services provided by the Coroner's Division. Pursuant to Government Code sections 27472
and 54985(a), the Board of Supervisors has the statutory authority to adopt fees in amounts

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
reasonably necessary to recover the cost of providing associated services. Adoption of
this Fee Schedule will allow the Office of the Sheriff to recover or offset the costs or
providing these services, thereby reducing financial impacts to other operational areas of
the department.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to adopt the Fee Schedule will require General Fund subvention and will cause a
deficit in the Office of the Sheriff’s budget.

IN THE MATTER OF ADOPTING FEES FOR CORONER SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE SHERIFF-CORONER
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS Government Code section 27472 authorizes the County to charge fees for services provided by the Coroner's
Division of the Sheriff-Coroner Department; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code sections 27472 and 54985(a), the Board of Supervisors has the statutory authority to
adopt fees in amounts reasonably necessary to recover the cost of providing associated services; and
WHEREAS, adoption of coroner service fees will allow the Office of the Sheriff to recover or offset the costs or providing these
services, thereby reducing financial impacts to other operational areas of the department;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the schedule of coroner service fees prescribed in Attachment A are hereby
approved effective July 1, 2011.
