HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06212011 - C.104RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to issue, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order to Ahura Scientific, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $163,875 for handheld chemical detectors, for use countywide by hazardous materials response teams. FISCAL IMPACT: $164,000. Budgeted (2009 Homeland Security Grant). BACKGROUND: This purchase request is for three Ahura Scientific FirstDefender RM S1 solids and liquids identification systems for San Ramon Fire Protection District, Richmond Fire Department and Contra Costa Health Services - Hazardous Materials Program. These instruments are for hazardous materials response teams in Contra Costa County and will be utilized during hazardous materials incidents to identify unknown chemicals. These instruments will be available for countywide response.
