FISCAL IMPACT: Budgeted FY 2010/11. $601,557 Bay Area Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) funds. BACKGROUND: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Urban Area Security Initiative Grant Program funds address the unique planning, equipment, training and exercise needs of high threat, high density urban areas, and assist them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, respond to and recover from acts of terrorism. Livingston, Sheriff-Coroner Date:June 21, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:Purchase Order - Motorola BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI). The County, as a member of the Bay Area UASI, will receive $1,493,431 to further develop interoperable communications, and to obtain public safety and medical and health preparedness equipment. The requested purchase order with Motorola is for a simulcasting radio site comprised of components that are housed in a rack that will be connected to the tower atop the County Administration Building in Martinez. Installation will be performed by County staff. The radio site is an element of the larger EBRCS Project. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
