APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute a purchase
order, on behalf of the Chief Information Officer, with IBM Corporation, in an amount not
to exceed $115,000 for maintenance and support of County mainframe computer software
for the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of $115,000 is budgeted for under Org#1060 Fiscal Year 2011/12 and charged out
to user departments via DoIT monthly billing charges.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Information Technology initiates the purchase and renewal of software
maintenance and support from IBM Corporation on behalf of various County Departments.
The related departments are charged for their share of the maintenance and support fees, as
applicable.

get Board approval for single item purchases over $100,000.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The county mainframe would not receive necessary maintenance to remain operational.
