HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06212011 - C.85RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #22–033–54 with Meals on Wheels\Family and Community Services of Contra Costa, (dba Senior Outreach Services) a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $157,720, to provide congregate meals for the Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. This Contract includes a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2012, in an amount not to exceed $39,430. FISCAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded 100% by federally funded under Title III C (2) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 through an interdepartmental agreement with the Contra Costa Employment and Human Services Department. No County funding is required and there is no increase in contract rates. Morgan C. 85 To:Board of Supervisors From:William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director Date:June 21, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:Novation Contract #22–033–54 with Meals on Wheels\Family and Community Services of Contra Costa BACKGROUND: This Contract meets the social needs of County’s population in providing congregate meals on 235 serving days, to an average of 235 senior citizens, to ensure they receive at least 1/3 of their daily nutritional requirements. On September 14, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #22-033-53 with Meals on Wheels\Family and Community Services of Contra Costa, Inc. for the period from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011, (which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2011) for the provision of congregate meal services for the Senior Nutrition Program. Approval of Novation Contract #22-033-54 replaces the automatic extension under the prior Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2012. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, congregate meal service for senior nutrition program will not be provided. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: N/A
