This purchase will replace a current analog unit that has received an “End of Life Announcement” from GE Healthcare. The upgrade will convert an existing unit to Direct Digital Technology. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise Fund I. BACKGROUND: As equipment ages and technology advances many parts and components are no longer produced thereby rendering these older units “End of Life”. Contra Costa Regional Medical Center has equipment that falls into this category and based on the announcement letter, after August 31, 2011, GE Healthcare will no longer renew or offer new service agreements with an uptime or parts commitment for the Compax 40E radiographic unit. The replacement system will bring our existing analog unit into the digital realm.
