Gates & Associates, Inc. to increase the payment limit by $50,000 to a new payment limit of $250,000 and extend the term from August 31, 2011 to August 31, 2012 for landscape architectural services, Countywide. (100% Countywide Landscaping District (LL-2) or Other Landscaping Districts Fund) FISCAL IMPACT: The $50,000 amendment will be paid by developer fees, the Countywide Landscaping District (LL-2) and/or other county landscaping districts as appropriate. BACKGROUND: Special Districts staff conducted a search for consultants to provide Countywide Landscape Architectural services. Staff contacted 46 firms and requested a Letter of Interest and Statement of Qualification (SOQ) by December 23, 2008 in order to be considered for a contract. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) within the countywide LL-2 landscape district or County Service Areas. Of the 46 firms contacted, 11 submitted Letters of Interest and SOQ’s. David L. Gates & Associates, Inc. was one of the firms selected. Special Districts staff requires a landscape architectural firm to ensure that the landscape areas it manages are designed, constructed and maintained in accordance with the Public Works Department’s Landscape Standards. The contract is being extended through August 31, 2012 in order to accommodate work in progress intended for this vendor. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without Board approval, Special Districts will not be able to provide these services with the required level of expertise needed to ensure that the landscape areas it manages are designed, constructed and maintained in accordance with the Public Works Department's Landscape Standards.
