APPROVE and AUTHORIZE County Counsel, or designee, to execute a first amendment
to contract for specialized legal services with David F. Schmidt Professional Corporation,
extending the term from June 30, 2011 to June 30, 2012 and increasing the payment limit
from $160,000 to $320,000, as recommended by the County Counsel.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This contract will be funded from the revenue the County Counsel’s Office receives from
fee charges. The contractor will be paid at the rate of $95 per hour. Payments under the
contract are not to exceed $320,000.
BACKGROUND:
This contract will allow the County Counsel’s Office to provide a continuity of specialized
legal services to the Board of Supervisors, County departments, and related agencies
necessary for the continued operation of the County, special districts, and related agencies.
The contract may be terminated by the County Counsel upon three days notice to the
contractor.
