Authorize the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Health Services Department to renew
Purchase Order with Central Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc., in an amount of $200,000,
for compounding of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and Peripheral Parenteral Nutrition
(PPN) IV solutions, for the period from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Enterprise Fund I.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center Pharmacy Department been using Central
Admixture Pharmacy Services, Inc. (CAPS) for IV services since May 2005. Total
Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and Peripheral Parenteral Nutrition (PPN) IV solutions are not
made in the In-Patient Pharmacy and must be purchased from CAPS.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the lack of products such as TPN’s & PPN’s, as well as
various IV solution compounds, needed for treating our patients will have a negative impact
in maintaining compliance with our patient population.
