Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Contract #24–807–5 with Staff Care, Inc., a corporation, in an amount not to
exceed $500,000, to provide temporary psychiatric physician services, for the period from
May 1, 2011 through April 30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment. (Rate increases)
BACKGROUND:
For several years, the County has contracted with registries to provide temporary licensed
personnel to assist during peak loads, temporary absences, and emergency situations.
On April 27, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #24–807–4 with Staff Care,
Inc., for the period from May 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011, for the provision of
temporary psychiatric registry coverage services for the Mental Health Division Outpatient
Clinics, to cover vacations, sick leave, and extended

Approval of Contract #24–807–5 will allow the Contractor to continue providing services
through April 30, 2012, including modification to County’s standard indemnification
language.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, County’s clients will not have access to, or receive services
from, Contractor’s psychiatric physicians.
