APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
to apply for and accept grant funding in the amount of $40,000 from Humboldt State
University to provide Small Business Development Center Services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$40,000: 100% Humboldt State University funding. No County Costs
BACKGROUND:
The Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County has applied for grant funds
from Humboldt State University Foundation to provide continued Small Business
Development Center (SBDC) services to business owners in Contra Costa County for
calendar year 2011/2012. The SBDC will provide a vast array of business services including
general business consulting, training, information and referral, marketing, and financial
consulting.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
The Small Business Development Center will maintain cooperative agreements with other
service providers (e.g., colleges, universities, economic development corporations, and local
government) and increase the small business sector's contributions to the economic
development in Contra Costa County.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Vital community services could not be provided.
