Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf
of the County, Interagency Agreement #28–725–6 with Lafayette School District, to pay
County an amount not to exceed $1,600, for the Public Health Department’s Scoliosis
Screening Project for 7th and 8th grade students, for the period from February 1, 2011
through January 31, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Agreement will result in a total payment to County of $1,600. (No County
match)
BACKGROUND:
Lafayette School District has requested that Contra Costa County Health Services, Public
Health Division, provide Scoliosis Screening Clinics at the Stanley Intermediate School for
their 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys, throughout the school year. By providing an
outreach program such as the scoliosis screening of their students, the School District is able
to provide a valuable diagnostic and preventative service to their students who might
otherwise go untreated.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
On March 2, 2010, the Board of Supervisors approved Interagency Agreement #28–725–5
with Lafayette School District, for the period from February 1, 2010 through January 31,
2011, for the provision of scoliosis screening services to Lafayette School District students.
Approval of Interagency Agreement #28–725–6 will allow County to continue providing
services, through January 31, 2012.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, 7th and 8th grade students in the Lafayette School District
will not receive Scoliosis screening services from County.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcome: “Children
Ready For and Succeeding in School”. Expected program outcomes include identification of
children with scoliosis so that they may obtain needed treatment.
