FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Enterprise Fund I. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department already has the AGFA Impax radiology system for picture archival. Currently the system installed is running on a now End of Life product provided by AGFA. Now we must upgrade to the next release of the product. The current 6.5 release supports many advanced features and will add our capability to perform mammography exams. The 6.5 release will support all of our operating systems as the software is now platform independent. Uilkema, District II Supervisor Contact: David Runt, 313-6228 I hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date shown. ATTESTED: April 12, 2011 David J. Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Carrie Del Bonta, Deputy cc: Tasha Scott, Demetria Gary, Karon Head C.53 To:Board of Supervisors From:William Walker, M.D., Health Services Director Date:April 12, 2011 Contra Costa County Subject:Purchase Order with AGFA for IBM Servers BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) the capacity to have a completely redundant system will be added in case any of our data centers has an outage. The availability of the application must have a reliability of 99.999%. One system will be placed in the data center running the application while the second is placed in our disaster recovery site. Without this purchase, we will no longer be able to take electronic diagnostic images. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Not purchasing the upgrade would force us to no longer use the current diagnostic imaging system. By returning to printing to film we would have to add radiologists on staff to handle the additional workload. Other concerns would be access to the data on the current system once it goes offline. Not purchasing the fully redundant system adds unnecessary risk and leaves us vulnerable to system downtime, which would have a negative impact on our ability to care for our patients. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
