APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services director, or designee, to
apply for and accept funding from Kaiser Permanente, in an amount not to exceed $20,000,
for a violence prevention program during the term July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% grant funded.
No County match.
BACKGROUND:
The Department wishes to apply for funding from Kaiser Permanente for a violence
prevention program. The requested funds will support staff training and program technical
assistance around the subject of child abuse prevention. The program, Adults and Children
Together (ACT) Against Violence, will be implemented at various childcare sites.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
