APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services director, or designee, to
apply for and accept funding from California Department of Community Services and
Development, in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for a job training and placement
program during the term June 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% grant funded

BACKGROUND:
The Department wishes to apply for funding from California Department of Community
Services and Development for a job training and placement program to support the County's
Community Action Plan (CAP) implementation of the East County SparkPoint Center's
goals and objectives. The grant also proposes to support Contra Costa Clubhouse
micro-enterprise co-op program, which is another element of the CAP.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
