HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04052011 - C.86RECOMMENDATION(S): REFER a proposed review of Resolution 2002/377 which governs County advisory bodies to the Internal Operations Committee. The purpose of this review is to ensure that the Board's advisory bodies resolution is compliant with changes to State law and to streamline procedural and administrative processes, as recommended by the County Administrator. FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: The Board of Supervisors has approximately 67 advisory bodies, which operate under a broad range of policies and guidelines established by the Board. Resolution No. 2002/377, adopted by the Board of Supervisors on June 18, 2002, outlines the responsibilities of advisory bodies and requires, among other things, that each advisory body has specifically defined objectives. Since the adoption of Resolution No. 2002/377, the State adopted Assembly Bill 1746, which eliminated the need to list LAFCO as part of the Appointive Bodies list. Some of these materials include applications, vacancy notices, and board orders. To address these findings, an update to the current resolution is necessary. Therefore, it is recommended that Resolution 2002/377 be reviewed by the Internal Operations Committee. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The County risks noncompliance with State law and inefficiency.
